Rinse the cranberries thoroughly in cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, water, and sugar. Stir well.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Once the cranberries start to pop (about 5-10 minutes), reduce the heat to low.
Add the orange zest, cinnamon, and salt to the simmering cranberry mixture.
Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
Remove from heat and let cool completely before transferring to a serving dish or storage container.
