- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1/4 cup cream cheese or sour cream
Prepare the potatoes by peeling and cutting them into chunks.
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
Bring the water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender.
