Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Decorative icing and sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Spoon the dough into a cookie press and shape onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  9. Once completely cooled, decorate with icing and sprinkles if desired.
