Decadent Pink Velvet Cookies: A Sweet Surprise

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2-3 drops red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and food coloring to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly glossy.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Spread a generous amount of cream cheese frosting on top of each cooled cookie.
