These Red Velvet Cookies offer a delightful blend of rich cocoa and buttery sweetness, creating a soft, chewy treat ideal for celebrations or an afternoon pick…

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. If desired, fold in white chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers look slightly underbaked.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
