Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in.
Gently fold in the flour until just combined; do not overmix.
Stir in the chocolate chips, reserving a few for topping if desired.
Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
