Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples peeled and cored
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter unsalted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the dough by mixing flour, salt, and butter in a bowl.
  • Add milk and vanilla extract to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  • Cut the rolled dough into squares large enough to wrap each apple.
  • Place an apple in the center of each square and fill with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Fold the dough over the apple and pinch the edges to seal.
  • In a saucepan, combine remaining sugar, butter, and water to create the syrup.
  • Pour the syrup over the dumplings in a baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.
