Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella sticks
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Nashville hot chicken rub
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the mozzarella sticks by cutting them in half if desired.
  • Wrap each mozzarella stick with a piece of bacon.
  • In a shallow dish, place flour, salt, and hot chicken rub. Mix well.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
  • Place breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  • Dredge each bacon-wrapped mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Arrange the coated sticks on a tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • In a large skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the sticks in batches for 3-5 minutes, turning to brown all sides.
  • Remove the sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
