Prepare the mozzarella sticks by cutting them in half if desired.
Wrap each mozzarella stick with a piece of bacon.
In a shallow dish, place flour, salt, and hot chicken rub. Mix well.
In another bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
Place breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
Dredge each bacon-wrapped mozzarella stick in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg, and coat with breadcrumbs.
Arrange the coated sticks on a tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Fry the sticks in batches for 3-5 minutes, turning to brown all sides.
Remove the sticks from the oil and drain on paper towels.
