Quick Savory Ham and Cheese Croissants in Minutes made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 package 8 oz of refrigerated croissant dough
  • 4 oz sliced ham
  • 4 oz sliced cheese such as Swiss, cheddar, or gouda
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard optional
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Open the package of croissant dough and carefully unroll it on a clean surface. Separate the triangles of dough.
  • If desired, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each triangle for added flavor.
  • Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on the larger end of each triangle of dough.
  • Sprinkle a little freshly ground black pepper over the cheese for extra taste.
  • Starting from the larger end, roll each triangle of dough tightly toward the point, creating a croissant shape. Pinch the edges to seal.
  • Place the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart to allow for rising.
  • Brush the tops of the croissants with the beaten egg to achieve a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the croissants are puffed up and golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
