Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add onions and sauté until translucent.
Add minced garlic and thyme, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
Stir in fresh cranberries, orange juice, and orange zest.
Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top.
Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
Serve hot, garnished with additional thyme if desired.
